Three-time Grand Prix World Champion Wayne Rainey was back on the Yamaha YZR500 for the first time since his career-ending accident 30 years ago. My brief at Goodwood was to get plenty of variation of all things two-wheeled at the event, but Rainey’s historic ride up the iconic Goodwood hill was priority. The emotional atmosphere was tangible and it was a real ‘I was there’ moment. I managed to shoot each of his three Saturday runs from different locations, including some portraits in the assembly area beforehand. A moving day.
